There are some UCLA players who carry themselves with such class and epitomize what a student-athelete should be that you can’t help but root for them- Maurice Jones Drew, Lorenzo Mata, Andrew Baumgartner. Best wishes to all the gutty Bruins big and small, and thanks for letting us be a part of your collegiate life. -clone12
Found this on the BRO boards. When I say I don’t care how many games we win, as long as we have the right kids, I’m mainly talking about kids like Lorenzo Mata. Not only was Lorenzo a starter last year, but some draft boards actually had him as a late second round pick. Considering his play time has fallen sharply with the arrival of Kevin Love those draft boards aren’t projecting Lorenzo to be drafted (though I think he’ll get his shot, regardless). And how has Lorenzo taken to this change of events now that Love has uprooted him?
Enthusiasm, Grace, Humility, and an unbridled team-first disposition. If I had to point to a single player on this team who has represented that perfect definition of success given to us by John R. Wooden, I would have to point, without hesitation, right to this fellow:
Not only is he a great basketball player and a great human being. He’s an example for your children to follow. Thanks for 4 great years, LoMa.
