Um…don’t listen to any of that crap Tim Morris or Lorenzo Romar are pushing. I think the statements that were in the Seattle Times today speak for themselves.
Found this piece via Dohn and some of it was really troubling. Again, its the Seattle perspective on the whole Morris/Aboya deal. Is it me, or is there some inconsistency between these two quotes:
“We ran a play where guys are curling off and none of them were open and (UCLA) coach (Ben) Howland was in the way so I couldn’t throw deep and I just reacted. He (Aboya) was so close I just kind of turned. I didn’t mean to (hit him in the face). I didn’t want to turn the ball over. He was so close. He’s a big guy (6-9, 245) so I couldn’t throw it off his knee and if I threw it at his torso he would have caught it.”
“Tim Morris is not a gangster, he’s not a thug,” Romar said. “Tim apologized right away. I don’t think it was premeditated.”
So let me get this straight. According to Morris’ own statements, his thought process was something like this: “Crap. If I try to hit him in knee, he’s too tall so that won’t work* If I try and throw it off his chest, he’ll catch it** . So…I guess I have no other option except TO THROW IT DIRECTLY AT HIS F***ING FACE.”
*What a load of horsecrap…what about below his knee…his shin…his foot…etc. This excuse makes no sense whatsoever.
**Even though, and I love Alfred, uhh…Alfred wouldn’t catch that.
Hey Romar. Sounds pretty freakin’ premeditated to me.
Again, if you haven’t seen it. Check it out here:
Here is Wilbon and Kornheiser from PTI talking about it. They didn’t like either:
