Lots of mixed emotions after that game. I really do have to say that I think the better team won. Memphis was too athletic, too long, too quick, and too strong for our bruins. Let me tell you, if those dudes at Vegas favor UNC or Kansas at all over Memphis, I’m gonna lay some money down on that for sure. Congrats to Memphis.
Now about our bruins. I got a little feklempt watching the last seconds tick away. Most of our bruins were around the middle of the court, sort of standing around idly. Not Kevin Love.
Love took some steps away from the center of the court and began to walk toward the edges…he put his hands at his side and looked at the crowd, rotating his head from one side of the Alamodome to the other.
He was, as he would himself say, “soaking it all in.”
That’s the last time we’re going to see Kevin Love in a bruin uniform. That little gesture said it all for me.
He’s been such a fantastic player, bruin, and person, and he’s represented the university so well that its going to be hard to see him go.
The same goes for Darren Collison. I was really bummed that this was how his last game (probably) had to be as well. Fouling out in your last game blows, but goddamn Derrick Rose is an amazing player.
And with that, we must remember our future is still bright. Roy Williams took 5 final four tries to win his first national championship. John Wooden took 15 years to win his.
Howland will get his. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. As long as Howland is the caretaker of John Wooden’s program, all will be right in Westwood. UCLA has the #1 recruiting class in the country coming in.
And this was a fantastic season, let’s not forget that.
Thank you Coach Howland, Thank you Kevin Love, and Thank You Darren Collison. Thanks to the rest of the players for giving us a great season. I think y’all did your best given the situation, and to me, thats all that matters.
GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has one player (Rose) ever dropped the draft stock of another NBA prospect (Collison) more in any game played?
Don’t worry Rose is doing it to every NBA prospect he has played in this tournament.
