Stewart Mandel’s Piece on the Reemergence of UCLA Thank You, Kevin Love
Apr 17

Look out for Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook to declare their intentions to put their name in the NBA Draft today. Sources say neither will hire an agent, but that Love fully expects to say in. I’m hearing that despite reports to the contrary, there is a very good chance that Westbrook will actually stay at UCLA. I’m sure Russell knows what the right thing to do in this situation is:

Russell, If you are in the top 15, get your money and get the hell out. Don’t be a jackass. Get paid.

If not, work on your jumpshot, get an insurance policy, and come back next year. We cool? We cool.

Anyone disagree with this?

Don’t disagree at all. Let’s face it. These guys (kids really) wanted this all their lives. Would Chem major pass up UCSF med w/ a 4.0 and risk another year that might bring down the GPA to 3.7; or a Poli. Sci. Major pass up Yale Law for the same reason?

The only regret, of course, is what a guard RW would have been as a Jr. That said, go get ‘em Rus!

I’m with both you and Rich — all you have to do is look at images 1-4 to know what the right move was. If I were in his shoes I’d be gone too.
